In the previous article, I have explained step by step installation of configuration Manager 2503 branch and in this article I will be explaining to fix the known issues occurred after updating 2503 which Microsoft included in 2503 Hotfix Rollup.
This hotfix was released on October 7, to fix the know issue on configuration manager 2503 and there multiple issue which were required to be fixed. Few issue that are fix by this updates are:
- Defender registry key for CP
- returning of error during click of compliance button after installing knowledge base 33177653.
- Updates were cancelling on Windows server 2025 due to high run time value in the properties on software update.
- configuration manager client version is updates.
- during Orchestration groups SMS Executive service unexpectedly terminating
- Improvement on reporting
Once this update installed on primary site, all the secondary site must be updates using manual method because it does not install automatically in secondary sites. To fix these issues follow to steps,
Open Configuration Manager and go to Administration -> Overview -> Updates and servicing -> Select Configuration Manager 2503 Hotfix Rollup (KB32851084) -> right click and Download
This will take few minutes to download also can be monitor logs on dmpdownloader.log file to check if download is happening or not. Once download is done, This is time to check prerequisites if any new dependency is released to be fulfilled. On Microsoft Article released regarding this, do not mentioned any dependency. If you have successfully installed 2503 it will not through any warning or error message during checking the prerequisites. to check the Prerequisites right click on 2504 hotfix rollup and click on Run Prerequisite check.
checking prerequisites may take 5-20 minutes to complete this, keep monitoring and hope not for any warning or error message. once this passed. result will be appear in the console as prerequisites check passed. After passing this without any error we are ready to install this hotfix in the server to fix the known issues. Right lick on CM2503 hotfix rollup and click on install Update Pack.
As we have already checked and passed the prerequisites and did not find any warning or error. just check on Ignore any prerequisite check warnings and install this update regardless if missing requirement and Next.
On Client Update setting tab, i would like to go through without testing on production environment and want to install this directly, i will choose Upgrading without validating and Next.
Read the License terms if you wish else check on “I accept these License Terms and Privacy Statement.” and Next.
We do not have configured any cloud attach. i will uncheck the option “Enable cloud attach” and Next.
Read the summary this will tell you what things are including in this update and click on Next.
Done. setup are ok and now this will start installing the new hotfix to the server. till may take 15 minutes to 1 hour to complete this installing. Once thing in MECM is it can be monitored via log and graphical user interface both. wait few minutes.
after an hour, check the installation process if it is happening or not.
Go to Administration -> Overview -> Updates and servicing -> click on hotfix -> Show Status
Right click on Configuration Manager 2503 hotfix and again Show Status
Here, i can be see all the steps are completed without any error. only Post installation step in in progress which will be runs in the background and do not make any problem further and user can start working.
after few time, it also reflected in mecm console
Once this installed, it throw an error by saying “A new version of the console is available” with its console version which need to installed in server. Just click on “Install the new console version“
Click on yes. this will take few minutes to be process the files.
There was an opened console in the service and due to which it was throwing the error to retry just click on retry. this will close all the trays and start the installation.
Installation is under progress.
Once update is installed, it can be verified on logs by going Configuration Manager/ Logs/CMUpdate.log as we can see update is installed and showing the log as “There is no pending update package to be processed” which mean update is already processed and completed.
also in GUI console, it can be verified that update is installed and there is no any remaining package.
